The Castle is located in spectacular surroundings. Perched on an elevated hilltop 1700 metres in altitude the lodge has breathtaking panoramic views in every direction and on a clear day it is possible to see Mount Kilimanjaro over one hundred miles to the east.  Surrounded by the montane forest of Ngorongoro the lodge grounds teem with more than a hundred species of birds as well as other spectacular wildlife.  Elephant, bufffalo, hyena and baboons are frequent and colorful visitors.
